Acai has been a favorite drink of mine for some time, particularly Sambazon, but as Maqui has shown to have higher anti-oxidant properties, it is the new king of ORAC.
Take a look at the comparison graph to the right, clearly Maqui has tested a significntly higher (nearly 10 times higher) ORAC value than Sambazon Acai.
Acai may have more market share, as does POM and others - from longer time on the market, but as Maqui becomes a known alternative it will also be known as the leader in the functional category.
Be one of the early adapters, click-thru a Maqui Superberry banner on this blog, and try a bottle for your own anti-oxidant benefit.

Irie Tea
Put on a CD of some Studio 1 roots dub and kick back with some Irie Chamomile Chill-out, or ... play an MP3 of Dub Syndicate and sip some Kava Kool-out... maybe play an old Jacob Miller, or Lee Perry LP and drink a cup of Echinacea Sunshine... or, even stream some new Richie Spice or Jah Cure and pour a pot of Hemp Seed Root Brew.
You get the idea... and clearly Irie Tea got me with their marketing and my passion for healthy tea and conscious reggae music. Check their teas out for yourself: Irie Tea

Maqui Superberry!
This is truly an amazing superberry, and certainly the most potent superjuice to hit the market. I cannot say enough about this product, and this is the first of what will likely be many blog posts touting the positive effects of Maqui.
Maqui Superberry delivers the highest anti-oxidant potency of any product on the market, simply drink about a tablespoon, or add a tablespoon to your smoothie, juice mix, or tea. The product as it is sold is not meant to be consumed by the bottle, but rather by the tablespoon (as noted), as it is just too powerful. The energizing effects from a tablespoon will be felt, and sustained without a crash.
We have placed a couple of banners on this blog, on the right side> and at the bottom, as well as on the affiliate page of the associated site - which you can click thru - and purchase Maqui Superberry. We just believe so strongly in the product that we want to promote it: http://www.juiceandtea.com/Juice___Tea_Affiliates.html
Maqui contains very high bioflavanoids such as anthocyanins and polyphenols. The anthocyanins and polyphenols in Maqui are among the highest of all fruits and vegetables. Anthocyanins are powerful antioxidants which can protect our cells from free radical damage. By comparison, Maqui berry has 200% to 300% the Anthocyanins & 130% the Polyphenols compared to red wine.
There is just simply too much to say about this product in 1 post, so I intend to also write separate posts about Maqui Superberry, including: additional health benefits, the story of the Mapuche tribe that uses the product in it's origin of Patagonia, plus smoothie suggestions and recipes...
Cheers to your health!

Yerba Mate
A good friend of mine got me hooked several years ago on one of the most energizing teas that I've ever had: Yerba Mate from Argentina.
Argentinians that I've since met insist on this tea, over coffee, though it still seems hard to find (outside of Argentina, or Miami).
I included an image here of the brand that my friend inroduced me to: Cruz de Malta.
Give it a try, but not if you intend to sleep soon... it will give you a natural energy jolt. Personally, I prefer to drink it mid-afternoon to get that kick I need to finish my day.

Juice vs. Tea
I found this article on the benefits of juice vs. tea published by Yahoo recently, and thought that it was worth re-posting an excerpt:
Beverage Wars: Juice vs. Tea
Which is better for your brain -- a glass of juice or a cuppa tea?
When it comes to preventing Alzheimer's, juice may have the edge. In a recent study, three servings a week reduced Alzheimer's risk impressively.
Drink Up
Polyphenols in juice may be one of the best things that's ever happened to your brain. The ones in apple and citrus juices, in particular, are very brain friendly. That's because they're able to cross the blood-brain barrier. Once inside your head, they can protect neurons from a damaging chemical associated with Alzheimer's. Some of those polyphenols, like quercetin, also squelch inflammation.
Juice It Up
Want a super nutritious glass of apple juice? Toss a Red Delicious apple into your juicer, peel and all.
Tea Is Still Great
Of course, this juicy news about protection against Alzheimer's doesn't mean it's time to toss your tea. Tea still has lots of other healthy benefits, like these:
Tea is great for your heart.
Tea turns down your stress response.
Tea may help keep your knees feeling fine.

Mission: Juice & Tea
I remember a tv character from when I was a kid, called Slim Goodbody. He had a theme song that went: "...nutrition is my mission and good health is my goal..."
As I thought of a mission statement for this blog, and as it is a sub-section of the site, I recalled that theme song. Our mission here is sharing healthy news and new products, specific to the benefits of juices and teas.
From the anti-oxidant properties and free radical neutralization of superjuices, to the calming, healing, or enegizing properties of various teas... this is our place to share this information.
Cheers to your health!
